Trumpeter HMS Nelson

This large scale plastic model kit of HMS Nelson will keep any keen modeller busy for quite some time, with over 1260 parts.

This is a stunning model that will enthral the ship modeller. To give you an idea of the scale we have shown it with one of our glamorous members of staff.

The HMS Nelson has a lot of history attached to it.  At the outbreak of World War II in September 1939, she was serving as flagship of the Home Fleet.

In March 1941 she supported the landing raid on the Lofoten Islands, Norway, against German factories producing fish oil and glycerine.

The same year she transferred to the Mediterranean, taking part in one of the Malta convoys.

In November 1942, the HMS NELSON was active in the “Operation Torch” landings in French North Africa.

In July 1943, she supported the Allied invasion of Sicily“Operation Husky”, and the Salerno landing in September 1943.

On September 29th 1943, General Dwight D Eisenhower, on behalf of the Allies, and Marshal Badoglio of Italy signed the Italian surrender agreement aboard the HMS NELSON.

She arrived off Gold Beach on June 11, 1944, and began providing naval gunfire support to British troops ashore, subsequently transferring to the Indian Ocean to participate in the war on Japan in August and September 1945.

The Japanese surrender of Malaya was signed aboard the HMS NELSON on September 3rd 1945.

After the war ended in 1945, she was retired from active service and used for training duties until 1947, becoming a bombing target before being sold for scrap in 1948.

Please note: The paint packs offered are only our suggestion from the box art and will not match directly with the instructions found within the kit.
