Occre's HMS Revenge recreates the distinctive appearance of this 16th-century English galleon, with her low forecastle, raised sterncastle, powerful broadside armament and elaborate stern decoration. Measuring 69.5cm in length, the completed model captures the character of a warship designed for speed, manoeuvrability and effective artillery.
The kit combines traditional wooden shipbuilding techniques with precision laser-cut components, fine hardwoods, photo-etched brass and cast metal fittings. Cotton sails and rigging threads of different thicknesses complete the vessel's impressive appearance.
With 3,076 parts and an estimated build time of approximately 560 hours, HMS Revenge offers a substantial project for intermediate-level wooden ship modellers and enthusiasts of Elizabethan naval history.

HISTORY:
HMS Revenge was an English galleon launched at Deptford in 1577. Designed under the direction of Sir John Hawkins, she represented a significant development in English warship construction, with a longer, narrower hull and lower castles than earlier galleons. These features improved manoeuvrability and provided a more stable platform for her artillery.
Under the command of Sir Francis Drake, Revenge served as his flagship during the English fleet's campaign against the Spanish Armada in 1588, taking part in the battles that helped prevent a Spanish invasion of England.
Her most famous engagement came in September 1591, when she was commanded by Sir Richard Grenville during an English expedition near the Azores. Separated from the rest of the English fleet, Revenge was surrounded by Spanish warships off the island of Flores.
Despite being heavily outnumbered, Grenville and his crew fought for approximately fifteen hours, resisting repeated attempts to board the ship. With the vessel severely damaged, ammunition exhausted and much of the crew killed or wounded, Revenge was eventually surrendered.
Grenville died of his wounds shortly afterwards, while Revenge was lost in a violent storm as the Spanish attempted to take her home. Her final battle became one of the most celebrated episodes in English naval history and later inspired Alfred, Lord Tennyson's poem The Revenge: A Ballad of the Fleet.
