With 2,235 parts and a finished length of 56.5cm, it offers an enjoyable introduction to the world of wooden ship modelling.
ABOUT THE KIT:
Occre's Buccaneer captures the adventurous appearance of a classic pirate galleon, complete with the infamous Jolly Roger flag. Rather than reproducing a particular documented vessel, the model represents the types of sailing ships associated with piracy during the Golden Age of Piracy.
The completed model measures 565mm in length, 230mm in width and 450mm in height, making it an impressive display piece without requiring the space of a larger-scale ship kit.
With 2,235 parts and an estimated build time of approximately 170 hours, Buccaneer offers plenty of opportunity to develop your wooden shipbuilding skills. Occre rates the kit as Easy, making it an accessible choice for modellers looking to explore traditional ship construction and rigging.
Large, full-colour plans and easy-to-follow instructions guide you through the build, with supporting step-by-step videos available from Occre.

HISTORY:
During the 17th and 18th centuries, piracy became a major threat to merchant shipping, particularly in the Caribbean and along the busy trade routes connecting the Americas and Europe.
Pirates attacked merchant vessels and coastal settlements in search of valuable cargo, while buccaneers became associated with raiding, smuggling and attacks on Spanish shipping and settlements in the Caribbean.
There was no single design of pirate ship. Crews frequently captured existing vessels and adapted them to suit their needs, favouring ships that offered a useful combination of speed, manoeuvrability, cargo space and firepower.
The Jolly Roger became one of the most recognisable symbols of piracy. Although flag designs varied between captains and crews, the familiar skull and crossbones came to represent the threat of a pirate attack.
Occre's Buccaneer is a fictional representation of a pirate galleon rather than a reconstruction of a specific historical ship. Its design evokes the vessels and maritime legends associated with the Golden Age of Piracy.
