Occre 1/75 Scale The Black Swan Pirate Ship Model Kit
Dark sails, formidable cannons and the unmistakable silhouette of a pirate galleon make The Black Swan a striking addition to any wooden ship collection. Inspired by Rafael Sabatini's 1932 novel and its 1942 film adaptation, this detailed 1/75 scale kit from Occre features 3,342 parts and an impressive finished length of 61.3cm.
ABOUT THE KIT:
Occre's The Black Swan brings the fictional pirate ship commanded by Captain Tom Leach to the modeller's workbench. With her imposing hull, elaborate stern, multiple gun decks and extensive sailing rig, the finished model captures the dramatic appearance of a classic Caribbean pirate vessel.
The kit combines traditional wooden shipbuilding techniques with precision laser-cut components, fine hardwoods, photo-etched brass and cast metal fittings. Sewn cotton sails and rigging threads of different thicknesses complete the ship's distinctive appearance.
With 3,342 parts and an estimated build time of approximately 480 hours, The Black Swan offers a substantial project for intermediate-level wooden ship modellers. Detailed photographic instructions, scale plans and supporting video tutorials guide you through construction, while the included display stand and nameplate provide the finishing touches.

HISTORY:
Unlike many of the historic vessels recreated in wooden model kits, The Black Swan is a fictional pirate ship originating from Rafael Sabatini's 1932 novel of the same name.
The story follows the adventures of Jamie Waring, a former pirate who becomes involved in a dangerous struggle against the ruthless Captain Tom Leach. The Black Swan is associated with Leach and his pirate crew, whose activities threaten shipping throughout the Caribbean.
Sabatini's novel was adapted into the 1942 Technicolor adventure film The Black Swan, starring Tyrone Power as Jamie Waring and Maureen O'Hara as Lady Margaret Denby. George Sanders portrayed Captain Billy Leech, the film's version of Sabatini's pirate antagonist.
The film combined sword fights, naval battles and Caribbean adventure, becoming a celebrated example of Hollywood's classic pirate films. It won the Academy Award for Best Colour Cinematography at the 1943 ceremony.
Occre's model takes inspiration from this fictional pirate legend, combining the dramatic appearance of a classic galleon with the atmosphere of Sabatini's swashbuckling adventure.
