HISTORY:

The Concorde was one of the most remarkable aircraft in aviation history, developed jointly by Britain and France to make supersonic passenger travel a reality. British Airways began commercial Concorde services on 21 January 1976, initially flying from London Heathrow to Bahrain.

Powered by four Rolls-Royce/SNECMA Olympus 593 engines, Concorde could cruise at around Mach 2 (1,350mph) and fly at altitudes of up to 60,000ft. Its speed allowed passengers to cross the Atlantic between London and New York in around three and a half hours, making it an enduring symbol of technological innovation, speed and luxury.

British Airways operated a fleet of seven Concordes, with the aircraft becoming one of the airline's most recognisable icons. After 27 years of commercial service, rising maintenance costs and declining passenger demand led to its retirement. British Airways operated its final scheduled Concorde service from New York JFK to London Heathrow on 24 October 2003, bringing the supersonic era of commercial passenger travel to an end.

The Revell 1/144 scale kit recreates Concorde in its famous British Airways livery and is particularly fitting for 2026, which marks the 50th anniversary of Concorde entering commercial service.
