The Austin LL, commonly known as the Low Loader, was introduced in 1934 and became a familiar sight on the streets of London. Developed following the success of earlier Austin taxis, it offered operators an affordable and dependable vehicle with a practical design suited to city driving.
Its distinctive appearance included a roof luggage rack and a folding rear roof section. Although taxi operators used a variety of colours, black became particularly associated with London's taxi fleet. The Austin Low Loader remains a recognisable example of British motoring history.
