Occre 1/50 Scale Polaris Starter Pack Model Kit

Occre 1/50 Scale Polaris Starter Pack Model Kit

Take your first steps into wooden ship modelling with Polaris, a model created specifically to teach the essential techniques used to build traditional model ships. This complete Occre Starter Pack combines the 1/50 scale Polaris kit with essential modelling tools, a cutting mat and glue, giving beginners almost everything needed to tackle their first wooden ship project.

ABOUT THE KIT:

Polaris has been designed by Occre as an introduction to naval modelling. Rather than recreating a particular historic vessel, the model provides a practical way to learn the fundamental techniques that can later be applied to more complex wooden ship kits.

During construction, modellers can practise working with wood and other materials, building and planking a hull, constructing the mast, fitting rigging and sails and finishing the completed model. Occre supports the build with detailed instructions, high-definition step-by-step photographs, full-scale plans and video tutorials.

The completed 1/50 scale model measures 580mm long, 124mm wide and 446mm high. It contains 1,226 parts and includes sails, metal castings and the components required to create a detailed finished vessel.

Unlike the standard Polaris kit, this Starter Pack also includes a set of essential modelling tools, a 300 x 220mm cutting mat and white glue. A basic construction stand and personalised wooden nameplate are also supplied.

Occre rates Polaris as Level 1 Beginner, making it an ideal starting point for anyone who would like to try wooden ship modelling before progressing to larger and more complicated projects.

ABOUT POLARIS:

Polaris takes its name from the North Star, which has been used as a navigational guide by sailors for centuries. Occre chose the name to reflect the model's own purpose: to guide newcomers through their first experience of wooden ship modelling.

Rather than representing a specific historical ship, Polaris has been designed around the techniques used when constructing traditional wooden ship models. Building it introduces many of the skills required for future projects, including working with different materials, hull planking, mast construction, rigging, fitting sails and finishing wood and metal components.
