Occre 1/200 Scale USS Missouri BB-63 Model Kit
From the final battles of the Second World War to the signing of the Japanese surrender and her later return to combat service, USS Missouri had an extraordinary career spanning almost five decades. Occre's huge 1/200 scale kit recreates the famous Iowa-class battleship in more than 6,000 parts, producing an exceptionally detailed finished model measuring over 1.35 metres long.
ABOUT THE KIT:
Occre's USS Missouri BB-63 is a highly detailed 1/200 scale model of one of the most famous American battleships ever built. At 1355mm long, 178mm wide and 320mm high, the completed model makes an imposing display piece.
The kit contains 6,096 parts and combines fine hardwoods with precision laser-cut wooden sheets. High-precision photo-etched brass is used for the finest details, while Zamak castings reproduce smaller fittings and components throughout the ship.
The large scale allows the Missouri's extensive superstructure, main and secondary armament, anti-aircraft weapons, deck equipment and other characteristic features to be recreated in considerable detail.
Construction is supported by scaled plans, instructions in five languages, high-definition step-by-step photographs, a parts identification sheet and a detailed parts list showing dimensions and materials. Occre also provides a complete series of step-by-step video tutorials covering construction of the model.
A basic construction/display base and engraved nameplate are included. With 6,096 components and an estimated build time of approximately 1,400 hours, Occre rates the USS Missouri as an Advanced model intended for experienced builders.

HISTORY:
USS Missouri BB-63, affectionately known as "Mighty Mo", was an Iowa-class battleship of the United States Navy. Launched in January 1944 and commissioned in June of the same year, she was the last battleship commissioned by the United States.
Missouri joined the Pacific War in early 1945 and took part in operations surrounding Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Her powerful 16-inch guns were used to bombard Japanese positions, while her anti-aircraft batteries helped defend the fleet against air attacks.
Her place in history was secured on 2nd September 1945, when representatives of Japan and the Allied powers gathered on her deck in Tokyo Bay to sign the formal Instrument of Surrender, bringing the Second World War to an official end.
Missouri later returned to combat during the Korean War, using her heavy guns to provide naval bombardment and support for forces ashore. She was decommissioned in 1955 and placed in reserve, but her career was far from over.
During the 1980s, Missouri underwent an extensive modernisation and was recommissioned in 1986. Alongside her original 16-inch guns, the modernised battleship carried contemporary missile and weapons systems. She subsequently saw combat during the 1991 Gulf War, firing both Tomahawk cruise missiles and her main guns against Iraqi targets.
USS Missouri was decommissioned for the final time in 1992. Today she is preserved at Pearl Harbour, Hawaii, as the Battleship Missouri Memorial, allowing visitors to explore the ship on whose deck the Second World War formally ended.
