Mantua Models' 1/35 scale kit recreates a typical small Mediterranean fishing boat, with a planked wooden hull, working-boat fittings and a finished length of approximately 400mm.
ABOUT THE KIT:
The Capri represents the small fishing boats traditionally found working from harbours and coastal communities around the Mediterranean. Designed as a straightforward wooden model, it provides an accessible project for modellers looking to develop their boat-building skills before progressing to larger and more complicated vessels.
Construction centres around a wooden keel and frame structure which is covered with individual hull planks. Precision laser-cut plywood components help simplify assembly, while the supplied wooden and metal fittings add detail to the deck and working areas of the finished boat.
At 1/35 scale, Capri measures approximately 400mm long when complete. Its relatively compact size and uncomplicated rig make it particularly suitable as an early wooden boat project while still introducing the modeller to techniques used in larger plank-on-frame kits.

HISTORY:
Capri is not a model of a specific documented vessel, but instead represents the traditional small fishing boats that have long been a familiar sight around the Mediterranean coast.
Boats of this type were designed as practical everyday working craft, providing fishermen with a compact and manoeuvrable vessel for operating close to the coast. Their construction and appearance varied considerably between regions, with individual boats adapted to suit local fishing methods and conditions.
The model takes its name from Capri, the Italian island in the Bay of Naples, an area with a long maritime and fishing tradition. Mantua's model captures the simple, colourful character associated with these traditional Mediterranean working boats.
