Billing Boats 1/60 Scale Dana Fishing Boat Model Kit
A traditional Danish fishing cutter in a compact and beginner-friendly format, Dana captures the character of the small working boats once common along the coast of North Zealand. Billing Boats' 1/60 scale kit combines a pre-formed plastic hull with laser-cut wooden parts, fittings, sails and rigging, creating an attractive introduction to model boat building.
ABOUT THE KIT:
Billing Boats' Dana represents a typical fishing cutter from North Zealand in Denmark. At 1/60 scale, the completed model measures 390mm long, 100mm wide and 340mm high.
Unlike Billing Boats' traditional plank-on-frame models, Dana is supplied with a pre-formed plastic hull, simplifying one of the more challenging stages of model boat construction. Laser-cut wooden strips and a fittings set are included for adding the deck, superstructure and finer details.
Sails and rigging thread are supplied to recreate the cutter's traditional sailing arrangement, while a plan and building manual guide the modeller through assembly. Billing Boats also provides a photographic construction manual for additional step-by-step guidance.
Billing Boats rates Dana as Beginner level, making it a particularly approachable choice for anyone looking to build their first detailed model boat.

HISTORY:
Dana represents a typical fishing cutter from North Zealand in Denmark rather than a particular documented historic vessel. Boats of this type were once a familiar sight along the Danish coast, particularly in the waters of the Øresund and Great Belt.
Around the turn of the 20th century, numerous cutters of this type were still operating under sail, providing coastal communities with an important means of bringing fresh catches ashore.
During the 1920s, many of these traditional fishing cutters were fitted with engines. Motorisation allowed fishermen to travel more efficiently and, importantly, to land their catch more quickly while it was still fresh.
Dana captures the appearance of this transitional period in Danish fishing history, when traditional sailing craft remained an everyday part of the country's working maritime fleet.
