Billing Boats 1/100 Scale Bluenose II Model Kit
Elegant lines, tall schooner rigging and a famous racing pedigree make Bluenose II an instantly recognisable subject. Billing Boats' 1/100 scale wooden kit recreates the celebrated Canadian schooner at a manageable 520mm long, with laser-cut wooden parts, detailed deck fittings and woven sail material.
ABOUT THE KIT:
This Billing Boats kit builds into a detailed 1/100 scale model of Bluenose II, the replica of the legendary Nova Scotian fishing and racing schooner Bluenose. The completed model measures 520mm long, 90mm wide and 430mm high.
The model features a wooden hull with laser-cut wooden components, together with brass and plastic deck details. Woven cloth sail material is supplied for creating the schooner's distinctive sails, while the masts, rigging and numerous fittings provide plenty of detail across the finished model.
A full-size plan sheet and building instructions are included to guide construction. Billing Boats classifies the kit as Advanced Beginner, making it suitable for modellers who already have some experience and are ready to tackle more detailed wooden hull construction and rigging.

HISTORY:
The original Bluenose was a Canadian fishing and racing schooner built by Smith & Rhuland in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and launched in 1921. Although built as a working fishing vessel, her speed soon earned her an outstanding reputation in schooner racing.
Bluenose became famous for her success in the International Fishermen's Trophy, defeating American challengers and becoming a symbol of Canadian maritime achievement. Alongside her racing career, she continued to work as a fishing schooner on the Grand Banks.
After an eventful career, the original Bluenose was wrecked on a reef near Haiti in 1946. Her fame endured, however, and her image became particularly well known through its appearance on the Canadian ten-cent coin.
Bluenose II was built in Lunenburg as a faithful successor to the original schooner and launched in 1963. She was constructed by many of the same craftsmen who had worked on the original Bluenose and was used as a promotional vessel before being transferred to the Province of Nova Scotia. The vessel became an important sailing ambassador and enduring symbol of the province's maritime heritage.
