Occre 1/90 Scale Santísima Trinidad Wooden Model Ship Kit
Four gun decks, an imposing three-masted rig and a formidable array of cannons make Santísima Trinidad an extraordinary subject for wooden ship modelling. Occre's magnificent 1/90 scale kit recreates one of the largest warships of the Age of Sail, with 6,221 parts and a finished length of over one metre. An ambitious project for experienced modellers, it captures the grandeur of the Spanish flagship that fought at the Battle of Trafalgar.
ABOUT THE KIT:
Occre's Santísima Trinidad recreates the celebrated Spanish ship of the line, renowned for her enormous size and exceptional firepower. Her towering hull, extensive gun decks, ornate stern and elaborate sailing rig make this a particularly impressive addition to any collection of historic warships.
The kit features traditional plank-on-bulkhead construction, with precision laser-cut wooden components and carefully selected hardwoods for the structure, hull planking, decking and visible finishes. Walnut and beech planking strips provide a pleasing contrast, while finely detailed fittings reproduce the vessel's artillery, deck equipment and decoration.
Turned brass cannons, falconets and gun barrels are complemented by metal cannon carriages, gunports, brass chain, laser-cut gratings and blackened metal anchors. An intricately cast transom, photo-etched brass ornamentation and a gilded metal figurehead add further character to this impressive warship.
A full set of hand-sewn cotton sails, silk-screened flags and four diameters of rigging thread are included to complete the vessel's elaborate three-masted rig. A basic display stand and photo-etched brass nameplate provide the finishing touches.
With 6,221 parts and an estimated build time of approximately 1,000 hours, Santísima Trinidad is rated Expert by Occre. It is a substantial long-term project for experienced wooden ship modellers who enjoy intricate construction, decorative detailing and extensive rigging.

HISTORY:
Santísima Trinidad was a Spanish first-rate ship of the line built at the Royal Shipyard in Havana, Cuba. Launched on 2nd March 1769, she was among the largest and most heavily armed warships of her time.
Originally constructed with three gun decks, Santísima Trinidad underwent several modifications during her career. Her armament was increased and an additional gun deck was created, giving her the imposing four-deck appearance for which she became famous.
She served in several major naval campaigns, including operations during the American War of Independence and the French Revolutionary Wars. At the Battle of Cape St Vincent in 1797, she fought as the Spanish flagship and sustained heavy damage.
Her final battle came on 21st October 1805, when she joined the combined French and Spanish fleet at Trafalgar. Commanded by Rear-Admiral Baltasar Hidalgo de Cisneros, Santísima Trinidad carried approximately 140 guns and more than 1,000 men into battle.
During the fighting, she was heavily engaged by British warships and suffered extensive damage. Her masts were brought down, many of her crew were killed or wounded, and she was eventually forced to surrender.
British forces attempted to tow the captured ship to safety, but a violent storm followed the battle. With her hull badly damaged and taking on water, Santísima Trinidad sank on 24th October 1805, bringing the career of one of the most remarkable warships of the Age of Sail to an end.
