Built in 1949, by Levingston Shipyard of Orange, Texas (hull #444) as the Carol Moran for the Moran Towing Company of New York, New York.Designed by Joe Hack she was a Grace Moran class tug. She was one of five diesel electric tugs built in 1949 by the Levingston Shipbuilding Company for the Moran Towing company. Built with her "sister" tugs, the: Grace Moran, Barbara Moran, Doris Moran, and Moira Moran. They were referred to as "Moran's Cadillacs."However, after a fire in 1987, the tug was given to the State of New Jersey to be a participant in the states reef restoration project. She was sunk as an artificial reef off New Jersey on the 17th of July, 1990.Powered by a single diesel electric Cleveland 16-278A engine. The superstructure is constructed of highly conformable diecut expanded PVC.
